 GAME SPECIES AVAILABLE FOR HUNTING
A wide variety of big game wildlife species thrive on this private, high
fenced ranch including native hill country White-tail deer, South Texas
White-tail deer, trophy Axis deer, trophy Blackbuck antelope, trophy Aoudad
sheep, Red Deer Stag, Scimitar Horned Oryx antelope, and Barasingha deer. Occasional wild hogs and coyotes are also seen
but, we strive to eliminate these animals when encountered. We offer a special bounty to our hunters for taking these animals.
TRUE TROPHY-CLASS
WHITETAIL DEER
Our trophy class whitetails posses some of the best genetics that
are available in Texas. From the legendary MAX, sire of MAXBO, with
numerous offspring that score over 200"-300" B&C, these deer are famous
for their mass and multiple number of points. We then cross these great
northern bloodlines to the largest typical bucks in Texas scoring over
200" net typical. Our end results are the trophy of a lifetime!
We also have a growing population of
native Rio Grande turkeys and a large population of
seasonal Mourning Doves. Occasional sightings of American Bald
eagles, Golden eagles, Ospreys (Sea eagles) as well as Mexican eagles have
been seen on the Ranch generally near water and open meadows. Porcupines,
skunks, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, gray foxes also are frequently
seen.
HUNTING METHODS AND STRATEGIES
Nearly all of our hunts are done from comfortable stationary elevated or
ground blinds which are located near protein and corn fed automatic game
feeders. Able to accommodate two people, all of our blinds are
totally enclosed and rain tight with sliding windows. All feeder
sites are fed year round which maintains all species and ensures all of
our animals are in healthy condition.
 We
offer hunts using modern rifles, pistol or black powder firearms.
A very limited number of hunts will be offered only to qualified, expert
archers.
As a last resort, or due to other
special circumstances, safari style hunts may be used to harvest game
animals.

Venado Vistas Ranch is a photographer's
dream, offering many unique opportunities to view many species in their
wild state. Special discounted rates are available for those
non-hunters who wish to photograph or video animals.
GAME PROCESSING AND
STORAGE
When animals are harvested we have a covered and well lighted area with
running water, dual winch hoists to hang your game for easier cleaning,
skinning and quartering. We also have a chest freezer and walk-in
cooler as well as industrial ice machine. There are several quality
taxidermists and meat processors in nearby Ingram and Kerrville. We
can also deliver your trophies and meat to world famous Woodbury's
Taxidermy in Ingram for a nominal fee. You are
responsible for pick up or shipping once your trophy or meat is ready.
